I would have a headset or speakers plugged it as backup. You can go under VO 
utilties and control what output VO can come out. For example, If you are 
watching a movie on your tv, you can just hear VO on your headphone.

Just an idea. Also there is a way to mute VO speech too for trackpad usage you 
doubletap with three fingers.
