Hi Scott. If it's a MacBook pro, like every other Mac laptop the power button is located on the top right. To make it go to sleep, either close the lid or press the power button. Finally, I don't turn my Mac off as I heard from a friend that knows computers very well that turning it off and on overtime damages a computer's hard drive, regardless if it's Mac or Windows. Computers these days don't take up much power so go ahead and leave it on. HTH.
