That which I described before happened when I connected my HDTV through my AV receiver and connected my Iphone via HDMI directly to my AV receiver. Just a thought, but, have you attempted to pass the signal from your movie playback source, (Mac or Iphone ETC) to an AV receiver and then to the projector?
