When you select them, how are you doing it? I just hit command-O for Open on the machine I want to connect to. Initially I get an empty table list but then it populates with the available shares from that machine. The trick is that by default it logs you in as a guest which means the only shares I can access are the public folders for each user. So I have a "Chris Blouch's Public Folder" as one of the choices. On the remote machine you can find the public folder by going to that user's Home folder (command-shift-H) and then you should find a folder called Public inside there. What you probably want is full access to everything, not just the public folder. So after you open the computer you want to connect to, you'll be in a list view table, showing the public shares available to guests. VO-left once and you'll land on a ConnectAs… button. Action that and put in the username/password for the remote user you want to log in as. You'll be dropped back to the same button but now it will read "Disconnect" and if you VO-right you'll be back to the list view table but there will be some additional entries. One is, for my machine, the cblouch folder which is my home folder. The other is Macintosh HD which is the entire hard drive. Usually all I want is my home folder. Select that and you should have full access over the network to the files in your home folder on the remote machine. Note that if you have the same username on multiple machines, as I do, it can sometimes get confusing as to which Documents or Desktop folder I'm in as they are similar layouts.

Hi,
I am trying to network all my macs and one pc together on our home network.

so far, from my i mac and from my mac book air, I can see all the other
machines, but when I select them after doing command shift k, the resulting
folders are empty.

I do have file sharing turned on on both the i mac and the MBA.

What do I need to do to make it so I can get files off the i mac onto the MBA
via the networking function? Likewise, how can my husband network his pc to my
macs?

Thanks!
Caitlyn
