I'm not sure about the exact Safari version number.  They are on 7.X, but I 
don't know if Snow Leopard remained on 6.X.  I'd have to boot into SL.

  You can use the terminal itself and that is accessible.  If you use command 
line tools, someone with more experience in that realm will have to comment.
