 Just to clarify, I think the freeze is actually a symptom of the OOPS. If
 you switch to the system console, e.g. CTRL-ALT-F0, and do whatever you
 need to make the driver break (for me, simply trying to ssh to my router),
 you should see the OOPS there.

 For me, it appears to be breaking in ath_tx_start(), with a NULL pointer
 dereference. I've narrowed it down to a smallish section of the code, but
 I don't know what's wrong yet. I might spend more time looking this
 weekend.
