@chadthal: Yes, since r1407 a STA VAP is automatically created when the
modules are loaded. See the comment from Volker Gropp which mentions a way
to control that (via the {{{autocreate}}} module parameter)
@Volker Gropp: You're right, there are a lot of places where such error
messages should be issued when ioctls are aborted. This is high up on my
to-do list, but there are some other things that need to be done before.
