New description:

 I have a Netgear PCI card WG311T. The following is an output from lspci:
 Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)

 uname -r:2.6.15-1.1831_FC4

 I installed the madwifi driver via yum and set up the ath0 device. However
 when I try to obtain an IP through dhcp I get the following errors:

 {{{
 Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
 SET failed on device ath0 ; Invalid argument.
 Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
 SET failed on device ath0 ; Invalid argument.

 Determining IP information for ath0... failed.
 }}}

 I also tried to uninstall the madwifi driver that yum installed and then
 downloaded and compiled the version directly from Madwifi.org. I still get
 the same issue.

 Here is the output for dmesg:

Comment:

 Make sure that your client is properly associated to the AP before trying
 to obtain a DHCP lease. Double-check. Since your AP has WEP enabled,

[wiki:UserDocs/Troubleshooting#WhywontmywirelessNICassociateproperlywhenIuseenablerestrictedmodeWEPonmyAP
 this tip] might help you to resolve your problem.

 If this all does not help, please detail what settings you apply to your
 card.
