 I believe I have the same problem. 3Com Officeconnect with XJack
 (3CRXJK10075), Acer Travelmate 521TE (P3-600MHz, originally 64M ram but
 updated to 320M), Gentoo, Linux 2.6.15, r1443 (20060207). Symptoms are
 very similar to the ones described in the bug report. I also have WinXP in
 this laptop and the card doesn't seem to work any better in winxp (with
 3com's drivers). It might be a hardware incompability, which might be
 possible to circumvent if the exact cause was known.

 lspci -v tells me the following:
