Sorry for the delayed response, I have been working away.
I've just built 1531 and the problem appears to have gone away.
I do set the essid in configs. I don't know what version fixed my problem
(somwhere between 1518 and 1531), but many thanks guys.
If it'll help, I can work my way through all versions until the problem is
fixed and report back.
