@ stefano, are you sure you're using the -ng drivers ?
Make sure you read: http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/Distro/Debian
And whatever else the wiki has.
show an output of "iwconfig"
and "dmesg" when the ath_pci modules loaded please.
