CONFIG_PREEMPT and CONFIG_SMP are both not set.
i will try another kernel too, but it would be best, when it works with
the ubuntu (more-or-less) default kernel, since ubuntu often tend to
overwrite a lot of things (incl kernel) when doing normal update.
