 I am not sure if it is possible to decide if a node is down or just
 temporary unreachable. But maybe the patch atteched to ticket #781 helps
 you. It fixes the problem that the data returned by iwspy allways has the
 update status `IW_QUAL_ALL_UPDATED`. With the patch it es set
 appropriately i.e. it is zero if there has been no new frame from the node
 since last iwspy-get-ioctl.
