With todays cvs (06-Aug-06) and uncommenting some lines in
ieee80211_linux.c it compiles and works ok! The culprit here is FC6's
kernel versioning, although on 2.6.18rc3-gitX the kernel still reveals
itself as being 2.6.17. Case closed.
For the record, the FC6 kernel needs
#include <linux/proc_fs.h>
to compile
