@joep, I agree. We should clip negative RSSI values as soon as possible.
My patch is inadequate, and not exactly elegant :) Regarding your patch,
is this the only place that RSSI should be clipped, or are there other
places? If you're confident that the patch solves the problem, could you
sign it off (wiki:DevDocs/SigningPatches) so that we can include it in
trunk?
As for your second point, this is most likely due to the fact that RSSIs
are averaged within the driver, whereas the noise floor is currently an
instantaneous value read once per receive interrupt. Adding averaging
similar to the way RSSI is handled may help alleviate the problem you are
seeing. I'll look into this at some point in the near future.
@rozteck, does joep's patch (with mine reverted) solve the problem you
were seeing?
