#1649: changeset 2850 breaks madwifi

After Changeset [2850] I'm not able to use the created interface anymore.
The hardware address is set to something as long as the one from wifi0 and
the protokoll is set to UNSPEC.
this is the output of ifconfig -a (exluding eth0 and lo) using latest svn.

Im running madwifi trunk with a AR5212 802.11abg on an IBM Thinkpad T41p
using Gentoo.
