 I suppose this meant to say "Linux" rather than "Windows" here.

 First of all, don't rely on percentages when looking at the signal
 strength of a WLAN link. The reason simply is that various drivers handle
 the signal strength fields provided by the wireless extensions of the
 kernel differently.

 Look at the output of "iwconfig ath0" when you are associated with an AP,
 and show us the line that tells you something like this:
 {{{
 Link Quality=12/70  Signal level=-68 dBm  Noise level=-80 dBm
 }}}

 Then tell us about the distance between the client and the AP at the time
 when you grabbed the mentioned line.
