Comment (by quique.costa <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>):

 Hello!

 I have been following this ticket and the 1192 one for several
 months.[[BR]]
 I'm working with a LGE notebook, E500-S.AP17B LG-1636 on Fedora 8
 (2.6.23.8-63.fc8 #1 SMP Wed Nov 21 18:51:08 EST 2007 i686 i686 i386
 GNU/Linux).[[BR]]
 My notebook is equipped with an Atheros adapter:

 /sbin/lspci -d 168c:001c

 03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5006EG 802.11
 b/g Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)[[BR]]
 I downloaded a Madwifi rpm from tchung.fedorapeople.org / madwifi /
 ar2425/2.6.23.8_63.fc8/ which seems to be acurate to my software.[[BR]]
 I installed it without any problem.[[BR]]
 I 'blacklisted' my ath5k coming with Fedora 8[[BR]]
 I unloaded ath5k and loaded ath_pci ... OK[[BR]]
 Untill now things seem to work nice, I can see my wlan0:[[BR]]
 /sbin/iwconfig wlan0

 wlan0     IEEE 802.11g  ESSID:""  Nickname:""[[BR]]
           Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: Not-
 Associated[[BR]]
           Bit Rate:0 kb/s   Tx-Power:17 dBm   Sensitivity=1/1[[BR]]
           Retry:off   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off[[BR]]
           Power Management:off[[BR]]
           Link Quality=0/70  Signal level=0 dBm  Noise level=0 dBm[[BR]]
           Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0[[BR]]
           Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

 Even, I can put the right essid, my nickname, the channel number if I like
 to, but when I try to enable the adapter it waits for some time
 saying:[[BR]]
 Determinando la información IP para wlan0...[[BR]]
 (determining IP Information for wlan0 ...)[[BR]]
 ... and then I get a fault[[BR]]
 My ifcfg-wlan0 file says:

 # Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5006EG 802.11 b/g Wireless PCI Express
 Adapter[[BR]]
 DEVICE=wlan0[[BR]]
 BOOTPROTO=dhcp[[BR]]
 ONBOOT=no[[BR]]
 HWADDR=00:15:af:3d:79:ed[[BR]]
 NETMASK=[[BR]]
 DHCP_HOSTNAME=aquiles[[BR]]
 IPADDR=[[BR]]
 DOMAIN=[[BR]]
 TYPE=Wireless[[BR]]
 USERCTL=yes[[BR]]
 IPV6INIT=no[[BR]]
 PEERDNS=no[[BR]]
 ESSID=cosmez[[BR]]
 CHANNEL=6[[BR]]
 MODE=Managed[[BR]]
 RATE=Auto

 Would you like, anybody, to help me?[[BR]]
 What is so far wrong?
