In order to drive the Ethernet controller(Atheros Communications, Inc.
AR5212 802.11abg NIC) on my freescale board mpc8349E, I cross compiled the
madwifi driver. But when I loaded the modules(using command:modprobe
ath_pci),the kernel printed messages as follows:
{{{
ath_hal: no version for "struct_module" found: kernel tainted.
ath_hal: module license 'Proprietary' taints kernel.
ath_hal: No versions for exported symbols. Tainting kernel.
ath_hal: 0.9.18.0 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413,
REGOP
S_FUNC)
wlan: No versions for exported symbols. Tainting kernel.
wlan: 0.8.4.2 (0.9.3)
ath_pci: 0.9.4.5 (0.9.3)
Unable to load needed module: ath_rate_sample; no support for automatic
module l
oading<3>Error loading module "ath_rate_sample"
}}}
'''
And I can load module "ath_rate_sample" with command "insmod
ath_rate_sample.ko" after that.I don't know how the error messages caused!
When I cross compiled the madwifi modules, I just used the same kernel
source tree of the current kernel.
After I loaded these moduleses, I just could not find the network
interface file "wifi0" with the command "ifconfig",which should be created
when the driver is loaded.
So would you please give me some advice about this! Thanks in
advance!'''
