 I noticed that the duration of the connection depends on the amount of
 traffic. When browsing the web it takes about 20 seconds to get
 disconnected. But when I only have a ping running the connection will stay
 up for quite a long time.

 Probably relevant as well: ifup ath0 produces the following messages:
