#1789: madwifi-ng fails to send 'connect' signal in time

 I am running 64-bit Fedora 8 on a 2007 Macbook (with an AR5418 chipset),
and am using the madwifi-ng driver from SVN. When using wpa_supplicant, I
am able to successfully connect to the network (encryption is WPA).
However, when using NetworkManager the authentication phase times out,
 giving the following in /var/log/messages:

NetworkManager: <info> Activation (ath0/wireless): association took too
 long, asking for new key.

Searching around on the web, I find that the cause for this is that the
driver is not sending the 'connect' signal in time:

 list/2007-December/msg00351.html

This behavior has occurred across multiple SVN revisions.
