#1791: 1 second "freeze" every 2 minutes
-------------------------------+--------------------------------------------
 Reporter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Type: defect
   Status:  new                |         Priority:  major
Component:  madwifi: driver    |          Version:
 Keywords:                     |   Patch_attached:  0

 By "1s freeze", I mean that all packets are dropped for a duration of 1
 second. It happens at a period of 121 seconds.

 Radio interference? I don't really want to hear that because I have no
 idea what could cause that and I tried everything:
  * channels from 1 to 14
  * laptop close-by the access point (and excellent link quality)
  * CCK and OFDM at lowest rates (1M & 6M)

 I suspect madwifi because I see that :
 {{{
 $ wlanconfig ath0 list
 ADDR AID CHAN RATE RSSI DBM IDLE TXSEQ RXSEQ CAPS ACAPS
 ERP    STATE     MODE
 XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX    1   14  11M   17  -78  120  37905  63184 ESs
 0       23   Normal WME
 }}}
 What does "IDLE=120" mean ???

 I use madwifi on my access point:
  * card: TRENDnet TEW-443PI [168c:0013]
  * kernel: Linux 2.6.24.2 (dist: Debian/Etch)
  * madwifi/branches/madwifi-0.9.4 (r3350)

 My laptop:
  * card: Broadcom BCM4318 [14e4:4318]
  * driver: b43 (Linux 2.6.24.2)

 Testcase:
  * `ap$ nc -u client 2000 < /dev/zero`
  * `client$ nc -ul 2000 > /dev/null`
  * rate: 1Mbps to maximize reliability
  * I read `/proc/net/dev` (column: Receive/bytes) every 100ms.
  * I get the attached stats:
    * 1 vert px = 1000 bytes
    * 1 horz px = 100 ms
    * there a green line every second
    * and a red one every minute
    * ~ 100 ko/s almost all the time

 (Severy set to major because it breaks most media streamings.)
