Ive got an eeepc and have managed to put my wifi card in monitor mode,
then when I reboot and do the same thing again the interface number goes
up and my number of VAPs goes up, really all I want is to be able to have
a single interface (ath0) in either monitor or managed mode when I
specify, with just a single VAP (or multiple if I'm monitoring packets).
The following makes me thinkthis is not possible:
"...in which case, the kernel will automatically append the next vacant
 integer."

At the moment I'm on ath29!

I've set the following script to execute when I press some buttons:
 ifconfig ath0 down
 wlanconfig ath0 destroy
wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode monitor

 Using ubuntu gutsy.
