Blind guess: run the following command after MadWifi has been loaded:
{{{dmesg | grep "HAL error"}}}
I suppose it yields something like "Hardware revision not supported (HAL
error 13)", which means just that: your card is not supported by the
version of MadWifi you've tried. There are several options how to respond
to that case, but to help further we'd need to know as exactly as possible
which WLAN card you have (vendor, model, and the output of {{{lspci
-nntv}}}).
