New description:
I'm using a Debian Lenny/Unstable/Experimental with a kernel 2.6.24.
My laptop is an !EasyNote MX51-B-056.
An lspci give me:

I try 2 versions of MadWifi : 0.9.4 and the snapshot of the ng version of
the 17 april. I've the same poblem.
My link with switch is very unstable. At one time, my browser can't
contact the internet and a ping give a net is unreachebale. I can work
with my network during few minutes or just for one second.
To "resolve" the problem, I make a {{{ifdown ath0 && ifup ath0}}}. But
sometimes, this operation freeze my computer.
Comment:
What is the link quality (check via {{{iwconfig}}} while being associated
to your AP)? Please give details about your WLAN setup (vendor and name of
your AP, does it make use of any encryption, which version of
wpa_supplicant do you use, stuff like that).
