#1913: Failure loading interface ath0 doesn't exist

Using a completely new install of Ubuntu 8.04 with a D-Link DWA-522
wireless PCI card.
Sorry I am a noob, i tried to find something similar in FAQ and forums,
nothing seemed to apply.
After following your instructions completely (downloading, building,
installing, and loading Madwifi) i received an error when trying to create
an interface. It said ath0 does not exist. I thought I had followed the
instructions poorly and tried starting over by
{{{ make uninstall }}}
Then started over. You can see my progress here

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Desktop/madwifi/scripts$ ./madwifi-unload.bash
FATAL: Module wlan not found.
Not sure what to do from here or why ath0 and wifi0 do not appear.
