I'm sorry to say the problem still exists, or something very similar. This
is my first linux install, so my debugging abilities are not:
Running Ubuntu 8.04 (386) on a pre Santa Rosa MacBook C2D with Atheros
wireless. I installed the trunk (3083 I believe), as well as (full
disclosure) the current injection patch from aircrack.
The symptoms I'm getting are identical to those above, and the workaround
suggested is successful--to a point. The VAP can be created in monitor
mode if the modules are removed and replaced, but no networks are detected
(in sta mode everything works just fine). This could be a separate
problem, and I'll keep looking into it, but the hard freeze is very much
in evidence. I haven't actually tried it in single user mode to check the
error message (which I wouldn't understand anyway) but it all matches up
exactly.
