I have the same problem here. I am using wpa_supplicant (with driver wext)
to do the scanning and authentication. At university, the command line
tool wpa_cli tells me that the connection to the network was established,
but no dhcp release are received. The madwifi driver works fine. I am
using a vanilla kernel 2.6.25.4.
