New description:
I tried several drivers from this page to get my wireless lan running on
the Acer Aspire One, but none of them was working, here is the data from
dmesg:
{{{
ath_hal: module license 'Proprietary' taints kernel.
ath_hal: 0.9.18.0 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413)
wlan: 0.9.4
ath_pci: 0.9.4
wifi%d: unable to attach hardware: 'Hardware revision not supported' (HAL
status 13)
ath5k_pci 0000:03:00.0: registered as 'phy0'
ath5k phy0: failed to wakeup the MAC Chip
ath5k_pci: probe of 0000:03:00.0 failed with error -5
}}}
Is there a general problem with my device or is there a solution I didn't
find? If it is a known problem, how long do you think it will take, before
until it's running?
Kind regards,[[br]]
Niklas Gussek
Comment:
There are two issues I can see from the log you've pasted:
1. You load MadWifi and ath5k. This won't work, choose one (and only one)
of them.
2. AR5BXB63 is based on an AR507 chipset. Neither MadWifi v0.9.4 nor
ath5k as included in any released "stable" kernel support this chipset.
Support for ath5k is work in progress. Support for MadWifi is available in
the madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6 branch.
You either need to wait for ath5k being updated in the kernel, wait for
AR5007 support being added to the MadWifi-RPMs provided in the repository
on our server, find third-party MadWifi-RPMs with AR5007 support or
compile MadWifi yourself.
I close this ticket as duplicate of #1192, where you can find further
information that might help you. Related support requests should be taken
to our [wiki:Support regular support channels]. Thanks.
