 I am a TOTAL newbie to linux! I didn't know how to open symantec
 yesterday. I have searched for my problem in madwifi.org and found just
 one revelant that was resulted invalid.
 So...I downloaded UBUNTU so i can run aircrack or kismet...when i
 installed aircrack, got to the last line to start it i got this

 {{{
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo airodump-ng rausb0
 Interface rausb0:
 ioctl(SIOCGIFINDEX) failed: No such device
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo airodump-ng wifi0
 Interface wifi0:
 ioctl(SIOCGIFINDEX) failed: No such device
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo airodump-ng wlan0
 ioctl(SIOCSIFFLAGS) failed: No such file or directory
 }}}

 So i did some research and found out that it is probably due to a unpached
 driver (whatever that means)... i found that madwifi is the "patch to my
 driver"...
 I search how to patch driver and follow these directions:
 madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/FirstTimeHowTo...When i get to the part where i
 have to turn madwifi devices down i get:

 {{{
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo ifconfig ath0 down
 ath0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo ifconfig wifi0 down
 wifi0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
 }}}

Comment (by mrenzmann):

 Please contact our [wiki:Support regular support channels] first. It seems
 to me that you're facing a support issue rather than a bug in the driver.
 In case it turns out I was wrong, feel free to reopen this ticket by
 providing further information.
