One reasons could be that by not having an event nearby we would loose potential speakers and participants. OSiM is not the biggest and best developer conference I have seen, but there were some developers attending that were extending the visit to Berlin to go to the Maemo Summit. And not only developers, it was good to have Jay Sullivan from Mozilla and he could come because anyway he was attending OSiM. OSiM tries to do better with developers every year and my default assumption is that more developers "in the business" will attend (people from Collabora, Igalia and other small companies that also have a link to Maemo. I'm not saying that we should go for Amsterdam and I'm still seeing whether does dates make sense in order to show something as cool as the Maemo community deserve. :) But at least they would be reasons not to repeat in c-base, even if the event was great (but not free, although affordable). By the way, I can prepare a rough summary of the Maemo Summit expenses, for reference. I won't go into details of how much we spent on each contributor sponsored but it is useful to share the basic numbers. -- Quim Gil _______________________________________________ maemo-community mailing list [email protected] https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-community
