Hi,

when adding an application to maemo.org/downloads, there's a field:

 authors
 ____________

Add the authors of this application here. Multiple authors are allowed.

What exactly is the intented purpose of this field? Should it really contain
only the author, the person(s) who wrote the original code? Or would you list a
maintainer/uploader there, somebody who made existing code available to tablet
users through re-packaging, uploading to a repository or thelike?

I left it empty last night for exif, an application I have re-packaged for
Maemo recently. The effect is that potential downloaders don't even see a name
they could contact if they have questions/troubles.
On the other hand, putting my name there is plain wrong. I didn't write a
single line of code for exif/libexif.

So, what's your opinion?
Should it be just any person inside the Maemo universe who feels responsible
for the package (uploader/maintainer, not necessarily author)?
Or should it honor the people who actually wrote the code?

Is there any consensus or best practice guideline on this?

Cheers,
Oskar
