Three reasons: 1) It's buried and easy to forget as both a task owner and a user. 2) It's impossible to produce an RSS feed of it 3) It's suitably heavy weight that it's not been done reliably. Absolutely. Which is why I'm trying to meet the suggestion of keeping the tmo "crowd" informed *and* reduce the amount of work needed to be done by the task owners. The mailing list idea was inspired by mer-chatter, which is used for small progress updates. Items can be pulled off the mailing list archive and turned into an RSS feed (which is then embedded on http://wiki.maemo.org/Mer).
