Defining the target and the purpose is the most important aspect. Once this is clear producing the marketing materials are easier. So looking at your PDF I see that it might serve the purpose of gathering developers with certain knowledge or an interest in Qt. That's it, I don't see room/message for "Maemo enthusiasts" alone. Not even for the average Linux / open source developer the message sounds like "something definitely for me". Note that developers with certain interest in Qt is what Nokia is targeting left and right, so I wonder if this is a first priority for the Maemo community. > I am developing a pilot community outreach program > starting with the US and need materials for these activities. Seeing 2-3 events you are planning to attend would help figuring out the right message for the right audience. > > I am looking for feedback on all aspects: color, content, layout, scope, > etc. There are some general things to be aware of: > > - I have been informed I cannot use Nokia trademarked logos. What is the license and specific purpose of your brochure? No company will give you a wild card to use their trademarks. If you are planning to have a brochure that anybody can download, print and give away publicly then it makes total sense that no Nokia trademarks are involved and the brochure can't be confused with some official Nokia marketing material. > - Plans are to include details on the reverse side of the flyer. If it's indeed for developers then http://maemo.org/development/ About the content itself, I think it's overpromising and not very informative, actually. Your own feedback about the current Extras QA process is not "development nirvana". Nor it is publishing in Ovi, again according to your feedback. Qt 4.6 for Maemo is in some alpha-ish state now. We are seeing the feedback from new developers dealing with the SDK and the Virtual image and the documentation... I would rather put the marketing time making sure the "development nirvana" pieces are easy to find and well documented, with a special focus in newcomers getting started. OR I would stress the great aspects of maemo.org to Maemo enthusiasts: Download, rate and comment on apps, get support and discuss with peers at Talk, get community testing for your apps and a free distribution channel at Extras... This is what is really excellent and unique in maemo.org and this is what no company can promote as good as real community marketing. Note the overlapping tasks this latter proposal would have with the effort to revamp http://maemo.org/intro - http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=33577 That task is stagnant mainly because of my fault. If you want we can join efforts, you end up having a brochure and I end up having an Intro page finished. -- Quim Gil open source advocate Maemo Devices @ Nokia _______________________________________________ maemo-community mailing list maemo-community@maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-community
