As a side note and to be completely clear and fair: the points system is
anything but heavy-handed-- just the opposite in fact. It was meant to be a
simple solution to a vexing problem: trolling that steadily increased after the
MeeGo announcement. Points evaporate over time so it really only affects
egregious, hyper offenders that no forum really wants anyway. Think of it as
"anti-karma". ;)
Disclaimer: I have no point assignment power, and I tend to be very
light-handed (but loud-mouthed).
