The screen is "small" in terms of dimonsion but not in resolution. The
Hildon GUI suits that really qiute well. You have plenty of space for
regular aplications while still keeping an overview over the rest (using
the top panel and the left task manager). And if you want more you can
press the fullscreen in almost any application and - woops - you have
the whole screen at hand for your application.
So I think at least concerning screen estate, wasted space etc. you will
not gain much.
I had already holded the device in my hands at the Linuxtag. I know the
display has a really impressive solution, but nevertheless the UI
elements and the font of the menu is really very big. This reminds to
the Nokia 9500 Communicator, where you can see similar UI elements.
Because I have still good eyes, I don't think this size is really needed
for me. :-) Furthermore I don't know if it is userfriendly to browse a
website in full screen mode and then for navigating switch to common
screen mode and after this back to full screen mode and the again to
common screen mode... - Because internet sites are optimated on desktop
resolutions, the difference between these two modes can be still big in
this area. In some cases between "website useable" and "website unusable".
What I would like to say, that even if the screen has a really high
resolution like the 770, there's no need to waste space like this. But
sure, I don't think that you'll need to port QT and KDE if you want only
a smaller application border/fonts on the device... ;-)
