Hi,
To integrate nicely with the multimedia framework, you might want to
use the
system sound interface of the media server. That ensures any other
playback is
paused and priority given to alarm event.
AFAIK, the interface is not documented, but it's a couple of D-BUS
methods (play_sound, set_volume, stop) and allows you to play any
supported sound file by just passing the
URI to it. Hildon-libs 0.9.6 (part of original maemo 1.0 release)
contains some example
code on using the interface in src/hildon-note.c.
