Mhh sounds interesting... I did something similar to have a Bluetooth based IM system, you could hook-up to my system and (ab)use it for transporting the game data (my system also supports routing).
Also what about just using PAN/NAP for building an small personal IP network just for your game? ...so many ideas ...
