Why do it via USB when you have both bluetooth and WiFi? There are a number of fairly lame self-contained net/web cameras and most run some kind of embedded Linux. I assume you could put some kind of web-server with a live video object or a refreshing gif/png/jpeg (and more interesting things with the new GPS API).
Even if you do use USB, a network device would work.
