Just a blind shot but did you search GConf confuguration (similar to
system registry on MS Windows)?

Try "gconftool -R /" on the device and search the output. You can remove
entries with gconftool too. Or maybe you can even delete stored XML
files directly - check /etc/gconf/2/path file for details.

thank you for your fast reply!

I was not aware of gconf and gconftool -R / yields a lot of
configurations (for example my Gizmo Project account settings) but I
could not find the settings (or a reference to them) of the IM/gtalk
accounts. But I will look deeper into it to verify, but if you have
another pointer, I'm more than greatful!

On the other hand, I at least found the last 5 searches of the Search
Applet: located at /home/user/.osso/mis/internet-search-applet.xml
