Hello there.

When I tried to order my N800 just now, the only place that I could
see for entering the discount code was on the screen that you get to
using the "Use Promotional Code" button on the order summary page.
But when I entered my code in the box, I got a "code not valid"
message.

So...

- Is that the right place to enter the code, or is there somewhere
  else?

- Does the code validation depend on email address? Following the
recommendation to use a "work email address", I used my day job
email, which is different from the email that Nokia sent the code
  to.

- Does the validation perhaps depend on when in the process you click
the "use Promotional code" button? I did it after selecting an
Express Evening delivery - should I have done it before changing
from the default delivery option, perhaps?

Yes, the promotional code box is the correct location, and you input
it on the same page you select shipping from. No, it's not specific
to anything as far as I know --email address or otherwise-- since they
did mention you could send it to someone else to use. I had problems
when it wouldn't accept my credit card and marked the code as already
having been used. I got around that by waiting for a little while.

I also had the 'cannot accept the credit card' problem that Larry mentions, which had nothing to do with the credit card, but was a problem connected to the discount code. So I called the helpdesk number given along with the error. The second-level person there was familiar with the discount program and the problems (he had had five similar calls that day). He quickly ordered it for me, entering discount code, etc. You might also find calling easier, provided you get the right person.
