I just built myself a kernel with SDHC support, with a modified
version of the original patch. I have two 4g cards working, with one
using 128m for extra ram.

So far i have had no problems, even with heavy usage. I get the full
size of the cards reported through file manager. I haven't done any a
specific testing, but so far it is all stable for me.

I wouldn't argue with you. The patch is destined for a 2.6.21 kernel I
believe so it's most likely there's vital stuff missing from the interim
and I don't know to what extent the patch has been tested on other
devices.
