Hi all! Recently there has been lots of fuzz about using the different hardware acceleration options available on the N800 (DSP, FPU and the PowerVR chip) with various success levels. The PowerVR chip seems to be completely out-of-reach (barring a miracle), the DSP is used by selected amount of Nokia-provided gst plugins and some other stuff but so far no real 3rd party success on using it (AFAIK?).
So, that leaves the FPU. Fortunately using that is much easier and simply a question of setting compiler options and rebuilding. So me and Tuomas Kulve decided to do some testing on compiling stuff with support for the VFP and blogged about the results: http://tuomas.kulve.fi/blog/2007/02/14/n800-and-gcc-options/ http://syslog.movial.fi/archives/46-N800-VFP-or-not-to-VFP.html I make some bold guesses on the reasons for what happens, though I'm not really expert on the low-level stuff. Any corrections or insights are warmly welcomed. -- Kalle Vahlman, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Powered by http://movial.fi Interesting stuff at http://syslog.movial.fi _______________________________________________ maemo-developers mailing list maemo-developers@maemo.org https://maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-developers
