Quim,
thanks for sharing this.
I am starting to demo the N800 informally to individuals who are
interested in potential business applications for the device and it
really helps to know that there is a roadmap for both maemo and for the
device itself. Just today someone came up to me after overhearing a
discussion I was having with another individual about the N800 and the
interloper asked if I had one. I said yes and then I proceeded to show
him the N800 .pdf reader and we then went to work on paring the N800with
his Bluetooth enabled Verizon Wireless Motorola handset with (hacked)
tethering support for his broadband service (Verizon Wireless's
broadband service is based on EVDO).
His company is interested in "losing the laptop" for their field techs.
Instead they want to utilize a smaller but Internet connectible device
using Bluetooth + mobile broadband, like the N800, that can be used to
pull down and read .pdf's of service manuals, for the plethora of
premises security systems (many of them legacy systems) for which his
company provides maintenance services.
Related to this them of "losing the laptop" I am thinking of marketing
the N800 as a "greener" device in the energy conservation sense since it
will, in general, consume less power than a laptop computer and be able
to go longer between times when it has to be attached to the "grid" for
recharging. Do you have any quantitative info on how much more efficient
the N800 is relative to the average laptop/notebook?
It occurs to me that having an auto charger for the N800 would be very
desirable. Better still would be to provide an adapter cable (USB to
Nokia custom power supply input connector) so a USB type charger which
is already available on the market (I happen to have one of these) could
be used with the N800. That way field service techs using this device
could recharge the device from their vehicle power.

Here we go: http://test.maemo.org/community/roadmap.html
It's in the test website (to be released as new site soon), it looks
ugly (I'll leave to others the beautification) but the information
contained is fresh and 100% real.

This page needs an update. I will help getting this page on shape.
This update is also a good opportunity to discuss possible futures.
