Sheesh. Ian was the one who thought (or more likely misread) that supporting eclipse meant forcing commercial IDEs on people, not Quim. Why do you want to lash out at someone who's actually trying to help you?
The point is that Eclipse is open source, it has a community commit process, it is available non-commercially, it is fully functional without any commercial components (probably without any proprietary components by now), and is the de-facto IDE standard for non- Microsoft target platforms. Leveraging that momentum to improve the Maemo development environment is a good thing.
