I'm a regular user of non-Linux distro - OpenSolaris/Solaris - that is both x86,
has qemu, Xephyr, etc. Would be great to get this working on Solaris too -
although I'm biased I suppose ;)

I'm very familiar with GNOME, etc, so would love to be able to get the
development env set up on Solaris so I could do more there... So the more
generic that things could be then that would be fantastic!
