Why not. I wouldn't bet on this model for a new native C application every day ;) but maybe a grid could be created combining Mozilla addons, applets, Python apps, straightforward GTK+/Qt, ports perhaps even some non-code related projects like themes, NumptyPhysics levels, creative concepts... and then even have some chances for that native development from scratch. > 2.
