Is there any sharing of code between the OpenSismus folks who are
converting the C docs into OO C++ docs for maemomm, and the PyMaemo
guys?

No, just guessing that reading a file 10 times a second and redrawing
a Cairo display as a result of it may not be the most efficient way of
saving power; especially when it takes ~10% of CPU (it can't keep up
with the timers; hopefully an OMAP3430 device would) :-)
