I don't think people care as much about "retaining a consistent feel", as they do about having stuff they can comfortably use with their fingers. Also, N810 is much cheaper than N900 (I imagine there will be a big second hand device market few months from now ;-), which makes it more appealing for some developers as development target. -- Ville M.
