After a good night's sleep and some caffeine, I think I found the problem (between the chair and the keyboard). A paste error in the key fingerprint will also have a similar effect (falling back to "signed"), sorry for the noise. (Of course I can't test it at the moment because the catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com repositories are timing out. Oh well...) Thanks!
